Most of the species of termites that damage timber in Australia are Subterranean Termites.  Subterranean termites usually nest in the ground, and from there, they build mud tubes over walls or piers (or any object in their way) to attack a structure from below.   Bathrooms and laundries are common places for termite infestations.

Protection for New Constructions

Prevention of termite attack for new constructions is the preferred option, with various solutions available.

Term X Replenishment System

Term X Replenishment System is a specifically designed pipe system used to apply termiticide chemical under pressure to saturate the soil medium surrounding a structure.  This creates an impenetrable barrier (if repellent termiticides are used) or a death-trap for unsuspecting foraging termites (in the case of non-repellent termiticide chemicals) that move through impregnated soil.

Chemical Barrier Treatments

Chemical Barriers are installed by trenching the soil under and around the construction which these days are of low toxicity and pose no threat to humans or animals.

A further treatment which can be used alone or in conjunction with other treatments is Trithor. Trithor is a physical barrier incorporating chemicals into the lining to physically repel and prevent termites.

Protection for Existing Dwellings

Eradicating termites safely is not as simple as you might think.  Spraying chemicals randomly  will not solve the problem.

If you seriously want to eradicate termites, you need to bring in specialist expertise that only  comes with years of experience and knowledge.  Pest-control specialists will quickly identify the best approach to take.

Professional pest controllers use thermal imaging equipment to help detect the presence of termites.  This allows us to literally see through walls and detect heat signatures from the termites’ activity.
